30 Dec 10 Lance Stephenson Enters NBA Draft After One Year!

Jim McIsaac/Getty ImagesLance Stephenson one year removed from winning a fourth straight PSAL title at Lincoln High School in New York. The 6-5 guard just finished his freshman season at Cincinnati and enter my name and had said earlier he would return for his sophomore Reebok New Orleans Saints #9 Drew Brees Realtree camo Jersey
year, but he announced yesterday he was leaving the school. Stephenson, the Big East Rookie of the Year, averaged 12.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists for the Bearcats. Stephenson has a 2-year-old daughter. Stephensonclaim his reasons to turn pro is financially support my family. And a burning passion to play in the NBA. I think he's going to be a major contributor to an NBA team. He not a lottory pick by no means. Maybe a mid-first-round or late-first-round. The New Jersey have two first round picks. Stephenson would look good in a Nets uniform. He be coming home in two years.

29 Dec 10 The Most Important NBA Playoffs Ever

can't wait for the NBA playoffs to start tomorrow. Being a Cavs fan and having to endure the treacherous play in the last four games of a LeBron-less squad has made the anticipation even more overwhelming. I'm ready to see the team that I've been following all season get back to Cavalier basketball, which means having LeBron take over and everyone else, be supporting cast members. They better return to form or else LeBron could be gone. The NBA playoffs this year won't only determine the fate of Reebok Pittsburgh Steelers 43 Troy Polamalu Realtree camo Jersey
LeBron in Cleveland, but other superstars as well. I've never seen a playoffs in any sport that mean so much to the state of every single team in the league. If you're a fan of the superstar on your team then you better hope they don't go out early. We've already seen some transgressions by Chris Bosh because the Toronto Raptors didn't make the playoffs. Sorry Canadian fans, but he's gone now. Bosh wants to win and after the semi-collapse of the Raptors he probably won't want to stay above the border. We've heard for years about the 2010 free agency and one of the last selling points by all contending teams is proving it on the court this post season. It's going to be tough enough to retain these players when they have a chance to bolt to a large market team that not only has the ability to sign them to a maximum contract, but also the ability to sign another superstar as well."Chris Bosh, would you like to play with Jose Calderon or would you like to play with Joe Johnson?" I think the answer is apparent. So now that Chris Bosh has one foot over the Niagara Falls Peace Bridge we need to look at the other players whose residence could depend on the playoff run.The number one player is of course LeBron James. I wouldn't say the Cavs have to win the championship to keep LeBron, but the Cavs have to win the championship to keep LeBron. The team they have now is loaded. At least 10 guys on that team could be starters on other NBA rosters and they have enough depth at every position to match upReebok Green Bay Packers 21 Charles Woodson Realtree camo Jersey
with anyone. They are clearly the best team in the NBA and if they don't get the ring then it will put some doubt into LeBron and where he should play. The Cavs can keep going out and getting players or change coaches, but if they don't win it this year, then everyone will finally realize that the city of Cleveland is just cursed and a championship is never coming.Other players who the playoffs will affect include Dwyane Wade, Ray Allen, Joe Johnson, and Amar'e Stoudemire. For the Miami Heat to retain the services of Dwyane Wade they must beat the Celtics or at least be very competitive and then grab an all star free agent. Every since Shaq left, Wade hasn't had a supporting player that can consistently be the second go to guy. He needs that. If he doesn't feel this team has the ability to get him anywhere or if the team won't bring anyone in to help then he will leave, even if he'll lose millions from having to now pay state income taxes.Ray Allen's next contract depends on his play in these playoffs. He hasn't been the Ray Allen of old until late in the season and a successful series by Ray Ray could mean many more millions in his pocket. I don't think the Celtics will keep him either way, but this first series against the Heat will help determine what teams will be willing to shell out the funds to grab him.Joe Johnson is going to get a max contract no matter how the playoffs end up. The biggest factor for him will be to determine if he's going to be the first player a team wants or the alternate all star. A great playoff run by the Hawks and Double J will mean that teams like the Nets and Knicks will be knocking at his door at midnight on July 1st.Amar'e Stoudemire's post season play is probably one of the most interesting things to pay attention too. The Suns repeatedly seem to want to ship him out, but it never happened and now the Suns are in the playoffs and playing very well as of late. A deep run could mean that Phoenix will want to keep him, but it would also mean that other teams would really Reebok Minnesota Vikings #84 Randy Moss Realtree camo Jersey
want him as well. Phoenix had the chances to resign him already and never did, so now we'll just have to see how everything plays out.The match ups in the playoffs are already interesting and we should have a few great series every round, but the superstars involved that will be free agents come July are what make these NBA playoffs the most important playoffs ever.

28 Dec 10 How the Refs and AK's Return Will Change the Jazz-Lakers Series

Chris Graythen/Getty ImagesLet cut to the chase. The Lakers are the more talented team in this Western Conference Semifinal matchup with the Utah Jazz. L.A. trio of near 7-footers, in Andrew Bynum, Pau Gasol, and Lamar Odom has overwhelmed the smaller Jazz.In essence, the defending world Reebok Minnesota Vikings #84 Randy Moss Realtree camo Jersey
champions are perfectly built to defeat Jerry Sloan's team, regardless of what Utah does. With that said, L.A. is not out of the woods yet, infact, with Games 3 and 4 looming at Energy Solutions Arena, this series could take on new life. What the hitch? It simple. The referee will step in and do their usual hatchet job of altering a playoff series. Theyll call an avalanche of fouls on the Lakers, and the hometown fans will walk away believing justice was served. The Lakers frontline of Gasol, Bynum, and Odom will spend more time on the bench because of foul trouble, and Utah should shoot a higher percentage at home. And if injuredJazz forward Andrei Kirilenko, can contribute anything,it should be enough for the Jazz tosqueeze outa victory or two at home. How do I know this? Call it years of experience watching David Stern's officials in action. The league and its TV partners want drama, and they don mind the conspiracy talk. L.A. parade to the free-throw line will be halted. And their layup drill will be replaced by hard fouls and no-calls.Regardless of what many NBA experts think or have proclaimed about this series, Games 3 and 4 won be a walk in the park for the Lakersit going to be a hard-noised, intense set of games.Besides, deep down inside, the Lakers know they have a game or two to play with, they haveno urgency to win, that Utah problem.Watch out for the subtle adjustments that are about to come from NBA officials. Theyll give Utah every opportunity to win at home and tighten this series up.A close and competitive series is what Stern wants, regardless of the Lakers dominance so far.No question that L.A. size has been the majordifference in this series. Coupled with the unmatchable efforts of Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol, a sweep could be possible if the Lakers come ready to battle two opponents. However, in the words of a certain ESPN college football analyst, "Not so fast my friends. The return of Kirilenko from a strained calf muscle will add much needed defense and a unique scoring threat to the Jazz lineup.Kirilenko, if healthy, has the ability to fill-up the stat sheet at a remarkable rate. His rebounding and scoring ability in the paint, adds a missing dimension to the Jazz.Guarding thelanky Russian, will potentially put Ron Artest, Pau Gasol, and/or Andrew Bynum in early foul trouble. If it works for the Jazz, then youve got a new series. If not, then it time to get out the brooms. What do you think the NBA wants?Odds are the Lakers will lose Reebok Pittsburg Steelers #83 Heath Miller Realtree camo Jersey
Game 3, no matter how hard they playthe NBA higher archery just wants it that way. From a business standpoint it simple: More playoff games, equals more moneyboth for the league and its partners. Why elsedo we have these ridiculous first-round playoff series that seemingly go on forever? It about the money, we know that.Im not blowing the lid off something new with the NBA, but the refs do have a skin in the game,it's called job security.Officials havealwayscalledthese types ofgames with the home crowd in mind, and theyobviously play to the crowd. How many times do we need to see 70-year-old Dick Bavetta doing hand stands and cartwheels just to make a simple traveling call on the road team? What a clown. The league and its officials can do whatever they want. Theyll call phantom fouls, no-calls, and touch fouls. Allat the drop ofa hat.Theyll do whatever it takes to get their desired outcome. And if a coach or player or owner, voices a different opinion, then Stern will simply fine them or call them into league headquarters to see if they really want to be part of the league or not.Just ask Mark Cuban. And have you noticed how quiet the NBA landscape has become ever since the commissioner issued his gag order telling everyoneincluding Charles Barkleyto shut up about the referees and their calls?Stern said it was undermining the public confidence in the league. Ah, memo to the commish: The NBA lost public confidence decades ago, and then it hit rock-bottom with the Tim Donaghy saga.It pathetic that Stern would conveniently choose to forget the biggest black eye in league history. Nobody else has.His reaction to poor refereeing is to squash any talk of descent. Nip things in the bud. Don fix the problem Stern, just sweep it under the carpet.Never mind the fact that officials are blowing calls left and right. How many times did Carlos Boozer get hammered in Games 1 and 2, and no foul was called? All we heard was C-Booze and his cry of And one!!! but no whistle. The frustration is written all over Boozer face.No one actually believes that NBA officials are being honest in their star treatment. These guys are as phony as a three dollar bill. The cynical outlook towards referees is similar to that of your local weathermanthey get it right about 30 percent of the time, but still have jobs.Donaghy fixed and gambled on NBA games, that a fact. This story is still fresh in people minds and the commissioner should know better then toArizona Cardinals jersey
try and muzzle players and coaches.Expecting them to remain silent when amazingly bad refereeing happens has never worked. It simply perpetuates what wrong with the league. The sad truth is this: NBA referees are consistently, inconsistent.End of story. If the league really wanted to be transparent, they wouldmandate that officials be available for post-game interviews, just like players and coaches are. That would never happen because they don want referees contradicting themselves to reporters and the fans.

27 Dec 10 New Jersey Nets Loss Equals Devin Harris' Gain

Chris Graythen/Getty ImagesThe Nets run of bad luck continued Tuesday night as they managed to lose again, falling to the third overall pick, leaving new owner Mikhail Prokhorov to shake his head in disgust. While the team may be disappointed by the bounce of the ball, Rod Thorn and company luckily have a John Wall replacement: Devin Harris. Enter the morning after and nobody could be happier than Devin Harris, as he almost gets a second chance with the team. The pressure of Wall is now thrown on Reebok Minnesota Vikings #4 Brett Favre Realtree camo Jersey
Gilbert Arena shoulders. The good news could continue if the Nets choose to hire Avery Johnson as their new head coach. Harris and Johnson both took the Dallas Mavericks to their last Finals appearance. Fast forward four years and Harris has had quite the ride as the Nets faltered to the bottom of the league and trade speculation grew. His play this year has had many critics stating that Harris has lost a touch or lost his heart. He shot a career low in field goal percentage while playing in a mere 64 games. Looking ahead to the summer of 2010 where a bright new owner promises a fan base a championship in the next five years. Devin Harris, howver, is only under contract for the next three years. Does Harris have what it takes to move a bottom feeder team to the top, and eventually hoist the championship? While it is quite early to tell with the team still coachless and a roster full of question marks, Harris seems confident. With his Finals past with Dallas, maybe Prokhorov dream of a ring isn so far away if management is willing to put the pieces around this growing superstar.

26 Dec 10 The Lakers Redemption

Ronald Martinez/Getty ImagesThe chants were deafening every Boston fans shouting Beat L.A., Beat L.A. for 48 minutes. The final score came out 131-92 as the Celtics big three celebrates as they add number 17 to their already storied franchise. It wasn the way the Lakers end their championship run they were push and shove and they basically did nothing but that was 2 years ago Now the Lakers have a chance for redemption as they face the Celtics again for the second time in the NBA finals. Both storied Reebok Baltimore Ravens #5 Joe Flacco Realtree camo Jersey
franchise have 32 championships together, 17 for the Celtics while 15 for the Lakers making more than half of the 63 championships in NBA history. Well see, well see how much we matured, Bryant said. They challenged us extremely well in the finals a couple years ago. Now is a chance to see how much weve grown. There was no animosity only pain as they walk through the locker room with a heavy heart, 2 years ago People waving, chanting and taunting the Lakers as they entered the empty bus and no one felt the pain more than Kobe Bryant. It was supposed to be his year after winning his first MVP then stirred the Lakers to the NBA championship It was painful, Lakers forward Pau Gasol said. It is a feeling that I want to keep in my mind for every single minute that Im out there playing them. They were labeled as softy and struggled to change their reputation. 2 years later and one championship won, the Lakers are a completely different team. The cast is still the same but the maturity has Reebok Baltimore Ravens #27 Ray Rice Realtree camo Jersey
improved immensely. The Lakers are no pushover and the championship ring theyve won the following year was a testament of the new and improve Lakers. They added toughness in a form of Ron Artest and Andrew Bynum who is playing hurt forego operation and will play on the finals, he maybe immobile but his height can surely disrupt any Celtic attempt. They are no pushovers and they can be physical as much as they want to be. Kobe believes that their maturity has grown since then but come Thursday the Lakers will Reebok Baltimore Ravens #52 Ray Lewis Realtree camo Jersey
be in for their ultimate test and the Celtics will prove that they are the same Lakers they played in the finals 2 years ago. It was a long bus ride from Boston and Kobe never wanted to feel the same emotions again After winning the conference finals against the Phoenix Suns there was a little celebration. The Lakers still wears that long game face. They are much focus of a task ahead and it more than winning a championship it about facing their old demons

24 Dec 10 Magic Johnson Sells Lakers Stake to Try His Luck in Detroit

Ervin "Magic" JohnsonAccording to a team announcement, Ervin Magic Johnson has sold his stake in the Los Angeles Lakers to Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, a Lakers season ticket holder for 25 years, for an undisclosed sum.In Johnson's own words, “This was a bittersweet business decision made Baltimore Ravens jersey
on behalf of my family and myself, and I want to assure all the wonderful and loyal Lakers fans that my decision will in no way affect my dedication and support for the Los Angeles Lakers. I am and will always be a Laker for life.”A business decision. Really?Magic is nothing if not a savvy businessman. In his time away from the court he has built a virtual empire of real estate, restaurant and movie chains, among other investments that have paid him handsomely. However, despite his championship at Michigan State, Magic is and will always be linked to the Lakers. So why sell his stake of the very team he led to five championships during the showtime era to sludge through the muck and mire that has become the Detroit Pistons? In a word, control. More than a savvy businessman, Johnson is a competitor. He competed and succeeded on the court, in business and now, he longs for the impact that comes from competing on the highest level of ownership. He, as many players who have long since passed their playing days, wants an opportunity to affect the outcome of a team's future. Maybe he can succeed where thus far, his contemporaries, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan, have failed. For as long as anyone would listen, Magic's made no secret of his desire to explore situations that presented a significant ownership stake, as well as a meaningful front office position. He recently flirted with a group that attempted to buy the Golden State Warriors with similar promises. Though that situation never manifested, Johnson clearly hasn't been resting on his laurels.During the playoffs, Johnson was asked about his desire to have more of a say in the decisions that affect a team to which he responded, “Some people had called me Buffalo Bills jersey
and wanted me to [know] if I’m interested in being a part of a group to own the Pistons. If somebody said, ‘Hey, can you come and think about helping Joe Dumars?’ then I would think about it.”Magic tempered these comments by clarifying that there had been no formal discussions, but by the looks of things that has changed."After heavy deliberation and a weighing heart, I have decided to sell my share of the Lakers" said Johnson. "I am truly humbled to have been a Lakers player for 13 years and an owner for over 10 years. I thank [Lakers majority owner] Dr. Buss from the deepest part of my heart and soul for allowing me such an incredible opportunity. I will continue to work alongside Dr. Buss, Jeanie Buss and Mitch Kupchak in their efforts to continually build and maintain the best NBA franchise in the league.”Although the City of Angelswill always have Magic's heart, Detroit presents an opportunity for Magic to make waves with a franchise that has clearly seen better days. Carolina Panthers jersey
And despite what owners have said to bolster their claims of a looming lockout, Johnson and his partners will make money whether or not they put a compelling product on the floor (Donald Sterling is proof of that).More than being a figurehead, Magic craves the adrenaline and relevance that comes from being the ultimate chess player in the game of chess that is the NBA. Really, what could be more challenging than that?

23 Dec 10Peja Stojakovic: Will the Raptors Buyout His Contract?

Raptors G.M Bryan Colangelo will consider a buyout if he cannot find a suitable trade for Peja Stojakovic.Chris Graythen/Getty Images"Buyout" is a word we all hate to hear immediately following any trade.Yes, some of us still, after all these years, have a sour taste in our mouths from the Vince Carter Reebok Pittsburg Steelers #83 Heath Miller Realtree camo Jersey
deal that saw us buyout Alonzo Mourning, who was the supposed centrpiece of the deal. Then we watched him donate his Heat salary to charity, (since we was being paid by us) and proceed to win an NBA championship.Buyout is now a dirty word to Raptors fans.I am not sure how a buyout helps the Raptors besides saving a few million based on the buyout percentage. I am not a fan of the buyout and I vehemently oppose it in this situation.Bryan Colangelo can make a very good deal with Peja’s contract and if hedoesn'twe have to assume he is getting pressure from the top to cut salary in lieu of the new CBA.If this is the case than our trade exception may be in danger of not being utilized as well.I doubt this is the case but hearing the words buyout in relation to Peja Stojakovic was very alarming to say the least.“Colangelo also said that the team would look into a trade or buyout if Peja Stojakovic doesn't like his role here in Toronto”.In the end I am sure our resident basketball wizard will figure out a Arizona Cardinals jersey
trade for Stojakovic and perhaps he simply mentioned a buyout as a last resort in the event he could not find a trade that made sense.Let's not roast Bryan Colangelo for his comments, but rather let his actions the rest of this season speak for him instead. This article can also be found also be found at Raptors Digest.

Chris Bosh To Join Dwyane Wade in Miami as Chicago Bulls Get Jilted

Ronald Martinez/Getty ImagesIt appears that the Chicago Bulls will be left standing empty-handed at the NBA free agency altar, as a source tells ESPN.com that Chris Bosh will be joining Dwyane Wade in Miami. While it is no surprise that LeBron James is probably staying in Cleveland, the Bulls did New York Jets jersey
ppear to have a legitimate chance to land Bosh. However, they were apparently unwilling to pay the price. The Raptors were willing to do a sign-and-trade with Chicago if the deal included Joakim Noah.A swap of Noah for Bosh would have been a plus for the Bulls. Bosh is the better player. The real crime, however,in this scenario is this: Would that deal have also brought in Wade?If Chicago had any assurances from Wade's camp that he was willing to sign with the Bulls, and they still refused to trade Noah, well, my friends, Gar Foreman and John Paxson have some 'splaining to do.In the end, the Cavs get their King. The Heat get Wade and Bosh. The Bulls, meanwhile get...Carlos Boozer?Ouch. All that salary manipulation has basically gone for naught. Look, the Bulls will be improved with Boozer—should they get him—but are no closer to a championship. The question Bulls fans should ask themselves is simple: Would they rather have a team with Derrick Rose and Bosh—or Rose and Noah? But Oakland Raiders jersey
the wild card is this: Rose, Bosh, and Wade, or Rose and Noah?If that is the choice the Bulls made, then shame on them.Perhaps the Bulls refused to trade Noah because they had no guarantees that a Bosh acquisition would also bring Wade to town. If they knew and still declined, then Bulls fans should really be angry with a team that will continue to disappoint in the coming years.LeBron tried like mad to talk Bosh into joining him in Cleveland. Bosh would net more money in a sign-and-trade, after all, and Toronto had indicated a willingness to work Philadelphia Eagles jersey
such a deal with the Cavs.In the end, Bosh only wanted to go to Chicago or Miami. There was no economic advantage to joining the Bulls, sohechose Miami, which makes sense. In Miami, a combination of Wade and Bosh makes for a better team—even without much around them so far—than Rose and Bosh. It's a slam dunk my friends. But a bitter pill for Bulls fans to swallow.

L.A. Clippers' Coaching Carousel Continues

Jonathan Daniel/Getty ImagesWe waited all this time for this?No offense to Vinnie Del Negro, who by all accounts was the best person available for the position, but how many months did it take to get here? Weren't there better options available earlier in the process? Why did it take so long to get to VDN?Word from Los Angeles is that the Clippers took their time. They looked under every rock, crossed t's, and dotted i's. Their search was meticulous, thorough, and exhaustive.Baloney.The truth is, the Clippers seemed to have St. Louis Rams jersey
backed into a decent hiring. Short of the coaching elite, like Phil Jackson, Gregg Popovich, Doc Rivers and the like, all other coaches fall into the same category.Del Negro seems not much better or worse than any other potential options. Sure, they could have possibly hired someone better with a more tenured, successful coaching background. They also could have gone in the opposite direction, and go with an unproven coach. The frustration stems not from the hiring, but from the process. The Clippers have a state-of-the-art practice facility. They play home games at a state-of-the-art venue in a state-of-the-art city. Everything about this team is state-of-the-art, except the way the team is run. That seems to lean more towards state-of-the-fart.Free agents love nice weather, a chance to win consistently, and the opportunity to be a "big fish." If a team can offer a player all that plus a decent payday, that team should be able to load up.Why haven't the Clippers loaded up?This free agent class is the best...well, ever.Joe Johnson, gone. Dwyane Wade, gone. Chris Bosh, gone. LeBron James, we find out Thursday. The Clippers made their pitch to the King of course, and by all accounts, it went well. With everything the Clippers have to offer, why wouldn't he choose to play Tennessee Titans jersey
for the red-white-blue? Because of the process.Forget the "Clipper Curse," the history of losing, the lack of vision, the apparent lack of leadership, the owner...forget it all. What's keeping the King, and all the Grade-A free agents from considering Los Angeles, is the process that was clearly on display as the team searched for a head coach.Clipper process (CP) is to wait, and hope things work out. It worked with Eric Bledsoe, it worked in 2006, and it might have worked well with the hiring of Vinnie Del Negro.I mean, even a blindsquirrelfinds a nut every now and again, right? The CP won't attract the one thing big enough to possibly change the atmosphere and culture of the Clippers franchise: the signing of a marquee free agent. As a matter of fact, it's that darn CP that's keeping the King away from the place where he belongs. So, Clippers fans are now left to process Vinnie Del Negro. He is a good hire who happened to fall into the Clippers' lap. He becomes the 23rd Clippers coach (24th if you count the two goes Gene Shue had at the helm) and the one with the highest expectations. No one is expecting a Championship for the Clips, but a return to something like the 2006 version of the team that came within one win of the Western Conference Finals is seemingly within reach. If Del Negro can deliver a consistent starting lineup (baring injury), a rotation that makes sense and more wins than losses, he will win over Clipper fans.I reached out to the voice of Clipper fans, actor/comedian Rondell Sheridan, to get his view on the hiring. "My first thought was 'Hey we got a black coach', then I realized Negro was his last name. I am looking forward to seeing Vinnie work his magic next week when he is down in Vegas for NBA Summer league."Even the most optimistic Clipper fan is leery, although not too let-down by the hiring. So, the coach is now in place. Dismantling the Clipper "process" however will take time and has to start at the top.Maybe LBJ shocks the word, Washington Redskins jersey
as well as the Clippers, and selects the team from Los Angeles on Thursday. There is little doubt that announcement would cripple the CP. More likely, however, James announces his respect for the Clipper franchise as he dons the cap of another team. The Clippers are left to, once again, pick up the scraps that drop from the main table. The Clipper "process" remaining alive and well.

Adrian Gonzalez Take Two: Deal Done After All, But Without Contract Extension

Ezra Shaw/Getty ImagesAdrian Gonzalez is reportedly close to officially becoming a member of the Boston Red Sox, despite the fact that the two sides have failed to reach a contract extension.MSNBC.com and Fanhouse.com were the first to report this, about 30 minutes ago. This comes after reports had surfaced that the Gonzalez deal Reebok Arizona Cardinals Larry Fitzgerald Realtree camo Jersey
was getting the nix, because the two sides were unable to reach an agreement on a new deal. It's very possible that the Sox used the 2 p.m. window allotted by Major League Baseball as an opportunity to sit down and get a concrete idea of what Gonzalez is looking for before making the deal official. It's important to note that the Sox would Reebok Baltimore Ravens #5 Joe Flacco Realtree camo Jersey
stand to save a significant amount of money on the MLB luxury tax if they wait until after opening day 2011 to announce a contract extension, ala Josh Beckett last year.No official word yet from the Boston brass.UPDATE: 8:48 p.m. - ESPN is confirming the story. The Padres are receiving P Casey Kelly, 1B Anthony Rizzo, OF Raymond Fuentes, and a player to be named later, as was earlier reported.

MLB Rumors: Yankees Could Sign Mark Prior To Minor League Deal

Donald Miralle/Getty ImagesAccording to Tom Krasovic of AOL Fanhouse, it’s down to the New York Yankees and Texas Rangers on a minor league deal for Mark Prior.Like I wrote about Rich Harden, it appears the Yankees would like to sign some low risk, high reward types in case Andy Pettitte doesn’t sign. That way they can have some guys with big potential battle it out with the rookies including Ivan Nova for the fifth starter spot.Prior was once the top young starter in baseball, but he has made Carl Pavano look like Lou Gehrig. Reebok Dallas Cowboys #82 Jason Witten Realtree camo Jersey
He hasn’t pitched since 2006. His last and only full season in the majors was in 2003.Prior was actually drafted by the Yankees as the 43rd overall pick in the 1998 draft, but he didn’t sign. Instead he went to the University of Southern California and was eventually drafted by the Cubs second overall after Joe Mauer in the 2001 draft.I actually read a really good story last year about Prior and his struggle to stay in baseball. I’ll have to dig to find it so I’m only going to look it up if he does indeed sign. If any readers know what I’m talking about and want to share a link that would be really cool.

20 Dec 10 Miami Dolphins Sign OLB Eric Bakhtiari To Practice Squad

Eric Bakhtiari joins the Dolphins four days before they face his former team, the Tennessee Titans.Rookie linebacker Chris McCoy's stint on the practice squad lasted just one week, as the Miami Dolphins released their 2010 seventh-rounder and Miami-Dolphins-sign-Al-Harris.html">signed linebacker Eric Bakhtiari from the practice squad. Selected by the Dolphins in the final round of April's draft, McCoy was waived by the Dolphins during final cuts and had a brief stint on the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad in October. He was re-signed to Reebok Pittsburg Steelers #83 Heath Miller Realtree camo Jersey
the Dolphins' practice squad on Nov. 3. Bakhtiari joins the Dolphins' practice squad having been a free agent since Sept. 4, when he was waived by the Tennessee Titans following the preseason. Background A standout defensive end at Division I-FCS San Diego, Bakhtiari was a three-time All-Pioneer League selection and was named the conference's defensive player of the year as well as an AP All-American each of his final two seasons. After going unselected in the 2008 NFL Draft, Bakhtiari didn't stray far from home, signing with the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent. He failed to make the team following the preseason and spent a brief period on the practice squad in September. Despite having spent most of the 2008 season on the practice squad of the San Francisco 49ers, Bakhtiari re-signed with the Chargers the following offseason. He recorded six tackles in the preseason, but was once again waived during final cuts. Bakhtiari was signed to the practice squad of the Tennessee Titans that November, and earned a promotion to the active roster on Dec. 12. He appeared in three games that season, recording two tackles each in game against the Rams and Chargers. The Titans waived him following an impressive 2010 preseason that saw Bakhtiari total five tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a pass deflection. He remained a free agent until joining the Dolphins' practice squad on Nov. 10. Bakhtiari will work at outside linebacker in the Dolphins' 3-4 scheme Reebok Arizona Cardinals Larry Fitzgerald Realtree camo Jersey
and will wear No. 44. He will make roughly $5,200 per week on the practice squad, and can be signed to another team's active roster at any time. Analysis As I said when the Dolphins' re-signed McCoy to the practice squad last week:McCoy, a seventh-round pick by the Dolphins in April, has failed to stick during two stints with the team."I consider his re-signing a brief audition to see if he's made any progress in his development since the Dolphins last saw him, but I don't think they'd hesitate to cut him loose again if he doesn't impress."It seems the Dolphins have already seen all they wanted to see, and have now sent McCoy back to the unemployment line. After struggling to find a job in September and having such brief stints on the practice squads of the Seahawks' and Dolphins', McCoy's professional career is certainly off to a bad start. Bakhtiari hasn't done much in two pro seasons, but did see a little bit of game action during the regular season with the Titans last year. He did have an extremely impressive collegiate career and does have some pass-rushing ability, although the competition he faced was far from top-notch. More likely, Bakhtiari is auditioning for a role on special teams similar to the one he had in Tennessee in 2009. While it won't provide any huge advantage, it can't hurt that Bakhtiari spent most of last season and all of the preseason with the Dolphins' upcoming opponent on Sunday. The Titans made a similar move yesterday, signing defensive Reebok Baltimore Ravens #5 Joe Flacco Realtree camo Jersey
lineman Marques Douglas, who spent the 2010 preseason in Miami. As always, check out the updated projected depth chart reflecting these transactions here. Discuss this article on the forum here! troubled him in Week 10. New England is getting killed by the pass (277.8 ypg). The last time Reggie Wayne faced them he caught ten passes for 126 yards and two scores. The last time he faced the Eagles, Nicks caught four passes for 110 yards and a touchdown. It’s highly possible he catches TD #10 this week. In the first meeting with the Vikings Greg Jennings caught six passes for 74 yards and a score. Expect more of the same. T.O. may not have had any run-ins with Buffalo like he has with his other former teams, but he’s certain to be up for the meeting. DeSean Jackson tormented the Giants to the tune of 256 yards and two TDs last year. Any question who’s the top WR in Dallas right now. Forget Roy Williams, Miles Austin can carry Dez Bryant’s shoulder pads. My gut says Hines Ward will be able to play this week. He was dying to get back in their Sunday night. Danny Amendola has scored in three straight games, and has a favorable matchup against Atlanta. I don’t have Reebok Baltimore Ravens #52 Ray Lewis Realtree camo Jersey

18 Dec 10 Week 11 NFL Power Rankings: Eagles Fly To Top Spot

Michael Vick is the talk of the NFL and has the Eagles thinking big.Chris McGrath/Getty ImagesIt was an exciting Week 11, filled with last minute finishes. The Falcons won on a late touchdown to Roddy White, the Jets took down the Browns in overtime on a Santonio Holmes touchdown and Reebok Minnesota Vikings #69 Jared Allen Realtree camo Jersey
the Jaguars won thanks to a Hail Mary caught by Mike Thomas. Yeah, I'd say that's a pretty exciting week, wouldn't you?All four AFC North teams lost in Week 11. The Cowboys showed some signs of life, and Bills fans can rejoice because their team won't go win less this season. As for Lions fans, they have lost 25 straight games on the road and counting. And if that isn't enough, Michael Vick and the Eagles sent a message to the rest of the NFL, embarrassing the Redskins 59-21 on Monday Night Football. The Eagles massacre of the Redskins earns them the top spot in this week's power rankings.1. Philadelphia Eagles (9): 6-3. Michael Vick is playing like a man possessed, and this Eagles team may be the best in the whole NFL. Sunday Night's game against the Giants has gotten even bigger.2. Atlanta Falcons (10): 7-2. I'll admit I had the Falcons too low last week, and their win against the Ravens bumps them up to number two. Matt Ryan and Roddy White have developed something special.3. New England Patriots (6): 7-2. Why did I ever doubt a Bill Belichick coached team? The Patriots were all business Sunday night. Next up is a showdown with Peyton Manning and the Colts.Tom Brady was flawless on Sunday, scoring four total touchdowns.Chris McGrath/Getty Images4. New York Jets (5): 7-2. Good teams win close games like that, and Jets have done it two weeks in a row. Mark Sanchez played great.5. Baltimore Ravens (2): 6-3. The Ravens defense let them down late, and it cost them the game. They'll rebound in Carolina.6. Green Bay Packers (4): 6-3. Coming out of their bye week, the Packers will face Brett Favre for the last time in his career.7. Indianapolis Colts (7): 6-3. The Colts are 6-3 despite getting hit bad by the injury bug. Next they travel to Foxborough.8. Pittsburgh Steelers (1): 6-3. What happened to the Steelers defense against the Patriots? They got lit up by Tom Brady.9. New Orleans Saints (8): 6-3. With Reggie Bush returning this week, and a wide open NFC, watch out for the Saints.10. New York Giants (3): 6-3. So much for that dominant Giants defense, they got lit up by the Cowboys Sunday. It gets tougher in Philly on Sunday Night Football.11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (14): 6-3. Is it time to start believing in theBucs? Raheem Morris has done an amazing job this season. 12. Oakland Raiders (12): 5-4. The first place Raiders come out of their bye week with two big road tests: At Pittsburgh, and at San Diego. Will the Bears win the NFC North? Will the Bears win the NFC North?Yes32.1%No67.9%Total votes: 10913. Chicago Bears (18): 6-3. Jay Cutler made some bad throws, but the Bears defense did enough for them to beat the Vikings. They have a short week, traveling to Miami on Thursday night.14. San Diego Chargers (15): 4-5. At 4-5, the Chargers are a game out of the AFC West lead and should get to 5-5 with the Broncos coming to town on Monday Night Football.15. Tennessee Titans (11): 5-4. Reebok New England Patriots #12 Tom Brady Realtree camo Jersey
Randy Moss was a non-factor in his first game as a Titan, catching just one pass for 26 yards. It doesn't look like he has much left in the tank.16. Miami Dolphins (16): 5-4. The Dolphins won their first home game of the season, losing both Chad Henne and Chad Pennington for the season. Let the Tyler Thigpen era begin.17. Kansas City Chiefs (13): 5-4. Are the Chief's this year's version of the 2009 Broncos? Their grip on the AFC West has loosened.18. Jacksonville Jaguars (21): 5-4. The Gus Johnson theory was in full throttle on Sunday when Mike Thomas caught David Garrard's Hail Mary throw as time expired.19. Seattle Seahawks (26): 5-4. That was a nice road win by the Seahawks, and they are sitting at first place in the NFC West right now. Not that that's an accomplishment.20. St. Louis Rams (17): 4-5. Sam Bradford put together a great drive to send it into overtime, but I wish they took a shot in the end zone during that drive. Will their home record remain perfect against the Falcons? The Texans woes continued on Sunday in JacksonvilleMike Ehrmann/Getty Images21. Cleveland Browns (19): 3-6. One thing is for certain: The Browns have found their quarterback of the future in Colt McCoy. Did anyone expect him to be this good?22. Houston Texans (20): 4-5. After coming back from a 17-3 deficit, that game couldn't have ended worse for the Texans. How do they recover from that loss?23. Washington Redskins (22): 4-5. The Redskins should have stayed home to save themselves the embarrassment of that game. I'm still confused as to why Donovan McNabb got that five year, $78 million extension after all that happened.24. Minnesota Vikings (23): 3-6. The Brad Childress watch continues in Minnesota. It's only a matter of time before he gets fired.25. San Francisco 49ers (28): 3-6. You've gotta give Troy Smith credit for converting from 3rd and 32 to take the lead late in the game. The Niners are alive in the NFC west.26. Denver Broncos (29): 3-6. The Broncos unloaded on the Chiefs, and Tim Tebow continues to be more and more involved in the offense.27.Dallas Cowboys (32): 2-7. Jason Garret looks like a genius after the Cowboys' win in New York. He had them playing inspired football. Their season is over, but can they play spoiler for the rest of the season?Kyle Williams and the Bills can celebrate. They aren't going defeated.Rick Stewart/Getty Images28. Arizona Cardinals (24): 3-6. Any aspirations the Cardinals had of Reebok New Orleans Saints #9 Drew Brees Realtree camo Jersey
winning the NFC West can be put to an end. They are three games behind the Seahawks and lost both games to them. Is it too late to call up Kurt Warner and beg him to come back?29. Cincinnati Bengals (27): 2-7. That's six straight losses for the Bengals and counting. Yes, I did have them reaching the AFC Championship game before the season started. Oops.30. Detroit Lions (25): 2-7. I need some explanation from Shaun Hill as to what he was thinking on that two point conversion. Did he realize they needed it to tie the game?31. Buffalo Bills (30): 1-8. Can you imagine if the Bills had blown that game on Sunday? Thankfully they didn't and got their first win of the season.32. Carolina Panthers (31): 1-8. I get the feeling we will be seeing Tony Pike sometime this season if Jimmy Clausen continues to be ineffective.

17 Dec 10 Hakeem Nicks to Miss 3 Weeks: Fantasy Football Impact

Elite WR Hakeem Nicks is expected to miss three weeks in what is a major blow to the New York Giants.Jim McIsaac/Getty ImagesHakeem Nicks has been diagnosed with compartment syndrome in his lower left leg and is expected to miss the next three weeks. 16 Dec 10 Philadelphia Eagles: Pregame Interview With Chicago Bears Blogger

Jonathan Daniel/Getty ImagesThe Eagles will face another tough battle this week against the Bears as they look to strengthen their standing in the NFC. Last week, we saw the Eagles play against a tough Giants defense, and we will see another tough defense this week.In preparation for the game, I spoke with Mike Burzawa of BearGogglesOn.com. Mike answered questions about both quarterbacks, where each team will have the upper hand on Sunday and who he thinks will win.BirdsFan: As a Bears fan, tell Reebok New Orleans Saints #9 Drew Brees Realtree camo Jersey
us about the play of Jay Cutler this season. Do you have confidence in Cutler as he tries to lead the Bears to the playoffs?BearGogglesOn: Cutler is still a bit of a loose cannon and you never know when he’s going to go on an interception binge. That said, he seems to have settled down in Mike Martz’s system a little bit. They’ve scaled it back for him and the rest of the offense the last couple of weeks and it’s made a difference.BF: The Bears have always been a team built on defense and this season doesn’t look like an exception. At this point of the year, who is the Bears defensive MVP?BGO: It’s hard to point to one guy, but I have to say that it’s Brian Urlacher. Peppers is a beast and has had an impact on the defensive line by generating pressure without having to blitz, but Urlacher has been the key to the whole defense. His role in Lovie Smith’s Cover-2 defense is to shut down the run sideline to sideline and still get back and cover the deep middle on passing plays.BF: What has been the biggest contributing factor for the Bears' three losses this season?BGO: That’s a loaded question because each loss stands on its own merits. The loss to the Giants is 95 percent on the offensive line, which allowed Cutler to get sacked nine times in a half and completely failed to block anyone. The loss to the Redskins, on the other hand, had to do with Cutler and his four interceptions.BF: The Eagles rank third in rushing offense and the Bears rank second in rushing defense. Who wins the battle on Sunday?BGO: I’ve got to give it to the Bears. They’ve been successful bottling up Adrian Peterson a couple of weeks ago, so they should be up to the task. As long as they can bottle up Vick and his scrambling, they should be fine.BF: If you were drawing up the defensive game plan for the Bears, how would you try to stop Michael Vick?BGO: You’ve got to force him to roll to Reebok New York Giants #27 Brandon Jacobs Realtree camo Jersey
his right, his off hand. If you can get him moving against the grain with sustained pressure, you might be able to force a bad decision or two.BF: On Sunday, where will the Bears have an advantage on offense? On defense?BGO: I’m not sure about advantages for the Bears on offense. The best thing they could do is hang onto the ball and be patient. They’ve been most successful when they’ve run the ball and not tried to push it vertically too much. Not sure they can do that against the Eagles, but they should be persistent with it.On defense, I’ll take our linebackers matching up against the Eagles running attack. I expect to see Urlacher and Briggs to contain McCoy and Vick’s scrambling.BF: Where will the Eagles have an advantage on offense? On defense?BGO: I think the Eagles can exploit the Bears safeties. They have played well so far, but they haven’t really been tested. With the speed of Jackson and Maclin, the Eagles have a decided advantage. On defense, the Eagles should be able to attack the Bears up front. The offensive line has been questionable all season and getting pressure on Cutler could give the Eagles a big advantage.BF: What player could be a potential x-factor for the Bears on Sunday?BGO: How about if I don’t name a player, but I name the Soldier Field turf? The turf in Chicago is notoriously bad, and about this time of year, it can be even more treacherous. The lousy field conditions could do Reebok New York Jets #6 Mark Sanchez Realtree camo Jersey
something that many defenders haven’t been able to—slow down the vaunted Eagles attack.BF: Give me a score prediction.BGO: Bears, 20-19.This article is also featured onBirdsFan.com - A Philadelphia Eagles Blog

Seattle Seahawks Got Their Wings Clipped, Now Sinking To the Bottom of the Sea

Stephen Dunn/Getty ImagesThe Seattle Seahawks' wings have been clipped. Their heads, cut off. The timer’s popped. These birds are cooked. The Seahawks have seen their division lead disappear overnight. They have lost four of their past five games. The Rams never failed to lose focus nfl jersey
despite a two-game losing streak. They beat Denver on the road, 36-33, to take the lead in the weird NFC West division. The Seahawks lost their most important offensive player in their brutal loss to the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints in New Orleans. Mike Williams suffered a sprained foot and could not partake in the Week 12 battle with Kansas City. The Chiefs destroyed the Seahawks at Seattle, where the Seahawks generally play better ball. Jamaal Charles gashed the Seahawks defense for 173 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Dwayne Bowe lit up the Seattle secondary for 13 receptions for 170 yards and three touchdowns in unstoppable fashion. The Seahawks passing attack fared decently without their Comeback Player of the Year candidate, Mike Williams. Ben Obomanu caught five passes for 159 yards and a touchdown. Obomanu has caught three touchdown passes in the past four games. If the Seahawks want any shot at winning the division, they need Mike Williams to return. More importantly, however, they need to run the ball. When Seattle traded for former first-round pick Marshawn Lynch, it was believed that they would switch to a more ground-and-pound attack. While Lynch wears down the defense, Forsett would be able to come in late and shred the tired defense with his speed. Seattle's running game was nonexistent against the Chiefs Week 12.They ran a total of 10 times with Lynch and Forsett for just 22 yards. It is too difficult for a team to win a Vikings jersey
game rushing 10 times for 22 yards. One would think the Seahawks were down and out of the game early, but the Chiefs won the game in the fourth quarter when they outscored the Seahawks 21-7. The Seahawks should actually take notes from the Chiefs, as they have a similarly constructed team. Both teams have good, game-managing quarterbacks in Matt Cassel and Matt Hasselbeck. They each have athletic tight ends in Tony Moeaki and John Carlson. Each has one big, strong, athletic wide receiver in Dwayne Bowe and Mike Williams. The problem is the Seahawks’ inability to run the football with the duo of Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett.Pete Carroll needs to force-feed these two quality runners the rock to open the passing game and keep the defense fresh. The Chiefs ran the ball 42 times with the duo of Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles, which continues to work out very well for the Chiefs, who sit atop the AFC West. If the Seahawks don’t pick up the slack in the run game, this team has nfl jerseys
no chance to make the playoffs.Sam Bradford has his Rams playing good football, and should beat the Seahawks again with his impeccable accuracy. The Rams already hold the tiebreaker over the Seahawks. Both have a decent schedule coming up.As they both sit tied at 5-6, it’s becoming clear that their Week 17 matchup could very well decide the winner of the NFC West and act as one of the most important games to end the regular season.

NFL Week 13 Power Rankings: A Humorous Look

"You got football down, now we gotta work on your GQ pose..."SATIRE ; Week 13 is shaping up to be one of the best weeks of football in recent memory. We have divisional games pitting the some of top teams in the league against one another. This week's winners may decide their division's race or at least put themselves in the driver's seat.1. Patriots (9-2): The first half in Detroit was scary, but then Brady remembered he was playing the Lions.2. Jets (9-2): They showed Cincinnati who the slouches were. Rematch next week in New England will tell us who really is No. 1.3. Falcons (9-2): Class of the NFC. I'll bet the MVP is standing in the picture above.4. Steelers (8-3): God had Suisham on his fantasy team5. Ravens (8-3): Beat a really good Tampa team. Ray football jersey
Ray and Waka Flacco Flame are doing their thing.6. Saints (8-3): The Super Bowl slump must have gotten too hung over celebrating in New Orleans. Because it forgot to deliver its message to the Saints.7. Bears (8-3): Da Bears look legit. The defense is dominating and the offense is putting points up. I kinda feel bad about shunning them before...but I reserve the right to retract this statement when they get embarrassed this weekend vs. Detroit.Vick was back behinds "B(e)ars"Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images8. Chargers (6-5): Vincent Jackson came back just in time to join the rest of the starters on the injured list. If Rivers needs someone to catch his TDs, he could turn to his defense. Apparently they are good enough for Peyton.9. Eagles (7-4): Vick had a touchdown pass picked off by FS Chris Harris. It was his first interception since December 2006. Unfortunately for him, I don't think that was the last time he gave it up in the end zone (jail joke).10. Packers (7-4): There's no shame in losing to a better team. Unfortunately, if they can't get a ground game going, every other team will be better come the playoffs.11. Buccaneers (7-4): Played hard and gave the Raven's a run for their money. It's absolutely ridiculous to think that they might not make the playoffs but someone from the NFC We(r)st will.12. Giants (7-4): Narrowly escaped the Jaguars, but this is a team affected by the injury bug. And the irreversible Manning Choke Syndrome.13. Chiefs (7-4): Stomped Seattle, but we didn't move them up much because I think its mean to pick on the handicap kids.14. Jaguars (6-5): A brutal schedule lays ahead for the Jags, but they are the only team in their division that seems to have it together."Down goes Finnegan"Bob Levey/Getty Images15. Colts (6-5): The Blair White Project got drubbed by San Diego. Maybe we are overreacting, maybe we hate Peyton, maybe we are on to something.16. Dolphins (6-5): There are now two teams in cheap nfl jerseys
Miami that have no business being a game over .500.17. Texans (5-6): No suspension for Johnson? We know who Goodell's WR1 is.18. Raiders (5-6): They are starting to slow down. They probably shouldn't have drank that syrup JaMarcus left in his locker.19. Titans (5-6): Knockout blow? I think so...20. Browns (4-7): Peyton Hillis scares me.21. Rams (5-6): The NFC West is like the Special Olympics. There's drooling and fumbling, yet someone has to win.22. Vikings (4-7): Peterson gets injured, yet they still manage to pull out a win. I think it was AD that needed to go, not Chilly.23. Redskins (5-6): DeAngelo Hall might lead the team in receptions.24. Seahawks (5-6): Relegated to second smartest kid with down syndrome.25. Bills (2-9): God hates the Bills. Plain and simple, how else do you explain Steve Johnson's...haircut?"We praise you 24/7!!! And this is how you do us!!! Thx tho. Some of us started PITT D/ST." - Buffalo FansKarl Walter/Getty Images26. 49ers (4-7): Being on a bad team can age you beyond your years. Frank Gore broke his hip, for crying out loud.27. Cowboys (3-8): The NCAA thanks the NFL for establishing the precedent of a Texas team in the "East."28. Broncos (3-8): The only way Tebow could save this team is if he lined up at linebacker.29. Lions (2-9): Suh's crew plays every game hard. If they were in the NFC West they would deserve a happy meal or ice cream after the game.30. Bengals (2-9): The lack of arrests is the only positive thing about nfl jerseys
this team.31. Cardinals (3-8): Derek Anderson thought it was hilarious that even though they fell to 3-8, they are still only two games out..32. Panthers (1-10): Nothing is humorous about this...well, maybe Jimmy Clausen as a Teletubby.

Fantasy Football Hot Pickups: Week 14

James Starks became the Packers lead back in his NFL debut. It's Fantasy Football Playoff Time!James Starks instantly became the Packers feature back in his debut and responded with 18 carries for 73 yards rushing.
James Starks is currently only six percent owned and needs to be owned in all leagues.
We all knew the Packers coaching staff liked James Starks a lot and viewed him as a potential running back of the future, but most, including Packers beat writers did not envision he would be handed the keys in his debut.
Expect Starks to be the primary running down back the rest of the way and for him to emerge with solid flex value down this critical stretch.Earl Bennett had seven receptions for 104 yards for the Bears this past Sunday and he is now producing commensurate with Jay Cutler’s confidence and favoritism towards him.
He was always billed as a possession receiver but his career and fantasy value got a big boost when his former college quarterback Jay Cutler joined him in Chicago. He had eight targets on the day and left the Bears in that category. He is currently available in 94 percent of leagues.Marshawn Lynch went Jets 6 Sanchez Jersey
absolutely nuts this past Sunday for three rushing touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers. He finished the day with 21 carries for 83 yards and three scores. He is currently available in 63 percent of Yahoo! leagues and should be added wherever possible.Sidney Rice is somehow still available in 33 percent of Yahoo! leagues and he needs to be snapped up right away if he is still on your wire. With Percy Harvin out with migraine issues, Sidney Rice exploded for five receptions for 105 yards and two touchdowns. He was targeted a team-high six times during the game.Jonathan Stewart is still, somehow available in 38 percent of Yahoo! leagues despite being back with the Panthers for three weeks and DeAngelo Williams being placed on the I.R., The Daily Show finished Sunday’s game with 21 carries for 92 yards and one touchdown.
Needless to say, Jonathan Stewart is a must-add if you are one of the lucky ones with him laying on your waiver wire.Chris Ivory had 15 carries for 115 yards and two touchdowns this Sunday and needs to be owned in all leagues. He is still available in 69 percent of Yahoo! leagues and should be added even with Pierre Thomas close to returning.
Ivory has a bigger role in the Saints future plans than Thomas and we will likely see that reflected when PT returns. Tashard Choice is one of this weeks hottest pickups as he was finally let loose with Marion Barber sidelined until at least week 15. Choice exploded for 100 yards and one touchdown off of 19 carries.
He is currently available in 90 percent of leagues and should be added, even if just to block rival managers.Roy Williams had a quiet game against the Indianapolis Colts but is in line to see a significant spike in fantasy value now that Dez Bryant has been lost for the season.
Jon Kitna and Roy Williams have chemistry dating all the way back to their time together in Detroit. He projects as a solid flex2 with flex upside in deeper leagues.
He is currently available in 54 percent of Yahoo! leagues.Mike Thomas had a quiet game, with the extra attention he received functioning as the Jaguars number one receiver and finished the afternoon with four receptions for 31 yards.
He should be owned in all but the shallowest leagues with MSW dealing with injury issues.Robert Meachem exploded with three receptions for 106 yards and one touchdown. Two of the receptions were big time bombs and highlighted his deep threat potential. He will be inconsistent but afternoons like this one prove that he needs to be on fantasy rosters at the very least.
He is currently available in 55 percent of leagues.Davone Bess had six receptions for 67 yards off of nine targets. Brandon Marshall almost returned this week so Bess should be relegated back to No. 2 duties next week.

He had a team-high 11 targets on the game and should be in fantasy lineups as a TE2 or even a flex2 in PPR leagues. He is currently available in 70 percent of Yahoo! leagues.David Nelson of the Buffalo Bills. You still may not of heard of him, but Ryan Fitzpatrick has made him fantasy relevant in deeper leagues.
He now has ten receptions and one touchdown over his last two games and appears to be heating up at the right time. He is currently available in 100 percent of leagues.Rashad Jennings had 10 carries for 44 yards and a touchdown and seems to be carving out a role for himself as an option at the goal-line.
As we saw today, Jennings helps to keep MJD fresh, and a fresh MJD is hard to stop. be the game-changer many had hoped when they picked him up last week in daily transaction leagues, but he should still provide some value down the stretch in deeper leagues.Deon Butler led the Seahawks in targets with seven and hauled four receptions for 43 yards. When in the starting lineup as he will likely be next week he is a weekly threat to score.
He should be added in deeper leagues as a flex2. He is currently available in 98 percent of Yahoo! leagues.James Davis had nine carries for 40 yards and three receptions for 41 yards and functioned as the Redskins top running back for the second straight week. He is currently available in 98 percent of leagues, and is still worth an add even with Ryan Torain set to return this week.Michael Bush had a great game helping protect the Raiders lead and finished the day with 23 carries for 95 yards and a touchdown. His role will likely not be this large consistently but he will be called upon to help protect leads and as a secondary option in the red-zone.
Consider him nothing more than a deep league flex2 going forward. He is currently available in 48 percent of Yahoo! leagues.Brandon Gibson had yet another solid game, this time with six receptions for 54 yards off of seven targets. Pittsburgh Steelers "Marvel Smith will be key"

Last season, the Pittsburgh Steelers tried to step up their passing game. It was a smart idea, borne from the fact that their current starting quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, is one of the best in the game. On one hand, Roethlisberger played very well and the team succeeded, to an extent, in its Dallas Cowboys jersey
efforts. On the other hand, it sure is a good thing that Roethlisberger is an underrated scrambler, because he had to use his wheels far too often.Enter the Pittsburgh Steelers' offensive line, usually a strength for the club. The unit struggled when it came to pass blocking in 2007, though. For reinforcement, check out the box score of the team's Week 11 game against the New York Jets. During that contest the line gave up a whopping seven sacks and generally left its quarterback running for his life on every play. Now, with guard Alan Faneca gone to those same Jets, several Steelers linemen need to step up in a big way. None as much as left tackle Marvel Smith, perhaps, a second-round pick of the Steelers in the 2000 draft.Smith, an ex-Arizona State standout, has started 103 games during his Steelers career.Things were looking up for Smith when he made the Pro Bowl in 2005 after allowing only 3.75 sacks through 12 starts. However, his play has fallen off since, with the lineman having surrendered 17.75 total sacks in his last 26 games. Part of the reason for the drop-off appears to be a nagging back injury, which required surgery at the end of last season and forced Smith to miss the Steelers' opening-round playoff loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. 4 Brett Favre White jersey
Ultimately, because of his surgery and otherwise up-and-down career, Smith is a big question mark for the Steelers. If he can come through this year and play somewhere near his 2005 form, the team may be able to make up for Faneca’s absence. If not, there could be trouble.Without question, Smith -- although unheralded -- will be a key to Pittsburgh's success in '08.

Michael Robinson San Francisco 49ers Profile

Michael Robinson is not your average NFL running back. Standing only 6-foot-1 and weighing in at 218 pounds, he is not the most intimidating individual in the locker room. However, when he straps on the pads something changes. As the experts say, he "plays bigger than he is." Much bigger. You see, Robinson lives for contact. When he sees a defender coming at him, he does not shield himself to protect against a big hit. Instead, he turns the table on the defender and attacks. And the result is usually extraordinary.Robinson, or "M-Rob," as he is affectionately referred to by the 49er faithful, is responsible for two of the most devastating hits I have ever witnessed....and both times he was the ball carrier. First there is the goal-line play against Brian Dawkins that was shown over and over on 6 Super Bowl Champions jersey black jersey
Sportscenter last week. Nearly everyone who watches football has seen that play. This quote from Sunday pretty much sums it up: "I just wanted to get in the end zone," said Robinson. "I told my offensive linemen, 'Put a hat on everybody, and if there's one left, we'll get in there.'"The other play, however, is not too well known to people who are unfamiliar with Robinson's college career. In a game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers during his senior year at Penn State, the former QB dropped back to pass, side-stepped the rush, rolled to his right and laid an absolutely devastating blow on Golden Gophers safety Brandon Owens...then he looked down at the carnage he had created like Muhammad Ali standing over Sonny Liston as the crowd in Happy Valley erupted in a chorus of cheers. For those who have not seen this play, allow me to bless you with this YouTube video!During his time at Penn State, Robinson lined up at quarterback, running back, slot back and receiver, and amassed 5,168 total yards of total offense along with 46 touchdowns. As a senior, his 3,156 total yards and 28 touchdowns carried the Nittany Lions to an 11-1 record and an Orange Bowl victory over the Florida State Seminoles. As impressive as they are, his statistics do not accurately reflect just how valuable he was to his team. According to the 49ers' official Web site, Robinson was so highly regarded by his Penn State teammates and coaches that they gave him serious consideration for captaincy...during his freshman year. The 49ers selected Robinson with the third pick in the fourth round of last April's draft. Though "M-Rob" was an effective quarterback in college, many teams had talked about turning him into a receiver in the NFL. San Fran head coach Mike Nolan, however, decided to try him out at running back to take advantage of his hard-nosed running style.Throughout training camp Nolan was continually impressed with Robinson's attitude and toughness. His ability to pick up the offense and adapt to his new position earned him a good deal of playing time in the preseason, where he proved to the coaches that he could be effective in the backfield if given the chance. It wouldn't take him long to get it.When starting running back Frank Gore went down with an abdominal strain against the Eagles last Sunday, Robinson's opportunity arrived and he made the most of it. Despite seeing limited action in the first two games of the season, Robinson was more than capable, rushing for 29 yards on five carries, two of which were 1-yard touchdown plunges. Not to play the "if" game, but if you take away his two carries for two yards, you're left with three carries for 27 yards -- a nine-yard per carry average...I'm just saying. After making the most of 2010 pro bowl Vikings 4 Brett Favre jersey
his opportunity against the Eagles, Robinson will look to get many more touches as the weeks go on. Coach Nolan has already said Robinson would likely be his short-yardage/goal-line back from now on, but don't be the least bit surprised to see him line up in a few regular situations to see what he can do. He is eager to play, and wants the ball in his hands when it matters. Finally, with Robinson rotating in and out of the backfield with Gore, the 49ers can open up an entirely different part of their offense: trickery. If they're playing a team with an aggressive secondary that has consistently attacked the run throughout the game, in comes Robinson and the Niners run a halfback pass. A former quarterback lining up in the backfield? That's a good way to keep a defense honest. Not your average NFL running back, indeed. Strap yourselves in, Niner fans. It's going to be a heck of a ride.
